Britney Spears was booed by fans after being caught out lip-synching during a ‘live’ performance.

The troubled singer was performing at the House of Blues in Florida on Saturday night (19.05.07) when technical glitches saw her backing CD skip repeatedly, exposing her miming.

A source is quoted by gossip website TMZ.com: “It was an ugly scene. The crowd started jeering and heckling her. Britney looked absolutely devastated.

“When the CD started skipping during the song ‘Do Somethin”, Britney hid her face and turned her back. Then, when it resolved itself, she turned around with this look on her face like she was going to puke.”

Hundreds of fans had queued for hours and spent as much as Â£250 a ticket to see the show.

The appearance was part of a series of 15-minute concerts which have seen Britney perform live for the first time in three years under the pseudonym M+Ms.

After the initial hitch, Britney suffered further technical problems, which left her “rolling around on the floor with her headset broken”.

Britney is not the first star to suffer the embarrassment of being caught miming.

Ashlee Simpson was left stunned during a performance on US comedy show ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 2004 when the wrong backing track was accidentally played, leaving her mouthing the wrong words.

Madonna was also famously blasted by Sir Elton John for lip-synching at her stage shows.

Britney Spears ‘admits’ pregnancy in public rant

Pop star Britney Spears hit out at the media with a public rant during which she claimed she was “really pregnant”.

The troubled star let rip when a group of reporters and paparazzi gathered outside a Malibu restaurant where she was dining and sarcastically told fans to “always believe everything you read”.

Britney said: “I just want to talk and say, like, how nice our world is. It really is. Like the other day, I saw this magazine and it said I was pregnant. And I went up to my mum and my mum knew, like, she was right, as I am really pregnant.

“Always believe everything you read everybody, because I am.”

Mother-of-two Britney, 25, also tackled reports she has been drinking since leaving rehab last month.

She said: “I went to see, like, this person, like, on USA Today and they said I was drinking a lot and it was just so true.”

Britney – who shaved her hair off in front of paparazzi before entering Malibu’s Promises rehab centre – also asked the journalists if she could see the footage they had just recorded, before saying she wanted to film some more.

She added: “Because, like, my management so knew what they were doing sending me to rehab. Like, totally. Isn’t it nice how nice our world is? Nobody is going to talk about this. The world’s so nice, that’s all I want to say.”

Britney Spears was rumoured to have had the treatment in Las Vegas on Monday to get her figure in shape for her pop comeback, but the singer’s representative has denied the claims.

The star stayed at the luxurious Wynn resort with a girlfriend and several bodyguards.

Britney visited the pool on Monday but she stayed out of sight for most of the time in a cabana.

She then dined on sushi at Nobu in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, wearing an auburn bobbed wig, a straw cowboy hat and large sunglasses.

Meanwhile, Britney’s relationship with her manager Larry Rudolph is said to be on the rocks again.

Britney and Larry parted ways shortly after she married Kevin Federline, but were reunited after she filed for divorce.

Rudolph encouraged her to go to rehab and allegedly ordered her friends not to take her calls on the night she shaved her head.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: “There is tension. He’s been trying to get her help, and she doesn’t feel she needs it.

“It is tough love.”
